You can’t outrun a bad diet.

In one study, healthy young men added about 1,500 calories of junk
food a day to their normal meals. After just five days, fat built up
in their livers and their brains responded less to insulin – and the
brain effect was still there a week after they went back to normal
eating.

And you can’t simply burn it off. Hunter-gatherers who walk for hours
every day burn about the same daily calories as office workers – the
body adapts to extra activity.

Exercise is great for your health. But it can’t fix a bad diet.

That’s today’s shot. Follow @longevityshots for one longevity idea in
20 seconds, every day.

Educational content only, not medical advice. Keep moving – exercise
has huge benefits for your heart, brain and muscles. For changes to
your diet, especially if you have a medical condition, talk to your
doctor or a registered dietitian.
